BECOME A VOLUNTEER!

Join us!

As a volunteer on the Talk Town festival you’ll exclusively get the opportunity to be a part of a team, which consists of dedicated organizers and other volunteers. This team is working hard on one of Copenhagen’s most versatile festivals for feminism and equality.

We can’t make it without your help, so come join us. If you already by now, know you want to be a volunteer at Talk town 2019, then mail us: info@talktown.dk and let us know something about yourself and which particularly work area you want to be a part of.

We’re looking for photographers, stage managers, runners and much more.

The work areas are listed below.

VOLUNTEER TASKS

TECHNICAL PERSONNEL
Can you operate a PA-system, projectors and other tech equipment?

As a tech volunteer at Talk Town you will be in charge of miscellaneous tech systems, making sure everything is in working order and be ready to step in if (and when!) something stops working.

Experience with sound tech is a must, since you will be responsible for the equipment at the various assigned stages.

FRONT DESK PERSONNEL
Are you service-oriented and interested in activism? Would you like to ensure that the festival guests, speakers and organisers have a fun and memorable experience? Yes? Then the bar crew is for you! Standing in one of our satellite bars or behind the main bar, you will be a big part of the festival experience. We will need bar personnel throughout the entire day, and you will be serving coffee, water, beer and snacks.
CONSTRUCTION CREW
Do you have a creative streak with natural sense for architecture and design?

We want Huset-KBH to be a place of inspiration, and the visual environment is a huge part of sparking great ideas – we will need lots of creative energy to decorate venues and create clear divisions within the festival area. Construction is always a fun and hands-on task, so you will be close to ground-zero when Talk Town transforms Huset-KBH. After the festival, you will help to dismantle the festival’s temporary decorations.

RUNNER
Are you a versatile individual with a keen eye for detail as well as an ability to see the bigger picture? As a runner at Talk Town your job will be to be in the right place at the right time, wherever that may be! Setting up chairs, making more coffee, cleaning up between events, and stepping in at the feminist marketplace will all be possible tasks. Our runners are the cogs in the festival wheel, often going unseen, but absolutely essential for ensuring a smooth ride for our guests. Every day will be different, so a can-do attitude is a must!

At the larger events, runners will also assist stage managers.

A driver’s license isn’t mandatory, but definitely a plus.

PHOTOGRAPHERS
The photographer is always on the spot where things happen! You will document the various events and capture the mood of the festival. Your photos will be used on Talk Town’s social media and website, and you will be credited for your work.
STAGE MANAGER
Are you cool, calm and collected?
As stage manager you will be responsible for a number of Talk Towns stages and run 3-5 events a day depending on the size of the stage.
You will be a part of a team of stage managers and will be working closely with the Talk Town organisers.
Your job will consist of welcoming speakers and sending them on stage, ensuring that the events are running on time – or making the call on whether to extend an event if it looks like it will run over time. You will also be in charge of technical equipment such as microphones, projectors, sound etc., and coordinating technicians as needed.
BACKSTAGE CREW
The backstage crew is responsible for food and beverages for the volunteers, speakers and artists, and may include arranging hot and cold meals and ensuring a steady supply   coffee. You will follow a detailed plan and make sure that refreshments are distributed to the right places.
